Because I frequent Manila, Eder suggested that I bring some of my art paraphernalia along. I wasn’t convinced it would do much good since I’m far more comfortable working in my own little workspace back in Singapore. But I packed my coloured pencils, paper, and the rest of my drawing essentials anyway.
Turns out, he was right.
It’s not my ideal setup, but it’s enough for me to keep doing something I genuinely enjoy.
This little portrait is of Frap (short for Frappuccino), a fuzzy Shih Tzu who lives with my dad in Manila. He’s a hyped-up, mean eating machine that never fails to entertain me. Small dog. Huge personality.
Dad also has another Poodle-mix named Cap (short for Cappuccino), but getting a decent reference photo of him has been nearly impossible. Much like his brother, staying still is apparently beneath him.
I’m not entirely sure where the coffee-themed naming convention came from, but Frap and Cap make quite the troublemaking duo. And honestly, I can never get enough of them.
This portrait was drawn on A5 (5.8″ × 8.3″) paper using Prismacolor Premier coloured pencils, which remain my favourite pencils to work with.
